Agencies come together to create global brand powerhouse
Five of WPP’s brand consultancies and design agencies (Brand Union, The Partners, Lambie-Narin, Addison Group and VBAT) are coming together to create a leading global brand agency. It will have a network of 750 people in over 20 countries, with client billings in excess of $100 million worldwide. The new agency, which has not yet been named, will be led by Jim Prior as Global CEO and Simon Bolton as Executive Chairman.

Zara tops list of most valuable Spanish brands
Spanish retailer, Zara, leads the inaugural BrandZ™ Top 30 Most Valuable Spanish Brands ranking at $25.1bn. Movistar, with a value of $22bn, is the second most valuable brand, while Santander ($8.8bn), BBVA ($7.9bn) and Iberdrola ($5.3bn) fill the other top five spots. WPP and Kantar Millward Brown also recently released the BrandZ™ Top 50 Most Valuable Indian Brands 2017. Zara tops list of most valuable Spanish brands

Strategic brand consulting and design firm Landor has announced the appointment of Jane Geraghty as Chief Executive Officer. Geraghty has been President of Landor EMEA and a member of the global executive team since 2012. She succeeds Lois Jacobs, who will remain CEO until the end of the year.

GroupM and Alibaba form brand marketing partnership
A new strategic brand partnership between GroupM and Alibaba combines GroupM’s [m]PLATFORM solution with Alibaba’s Uni Marketing products, collaborating in areas including data, resources and strategy. The partnership will create additional value for GroupM’s clients, enabling their brand marketing efforts to be more relevant to consumers.

Wunderman takes majority stake in Salesforce-focused consultancy
Digital agency Wunderman has acquired a majority stake in Pierry, a marketing software integration and solutions company specializing in optimizing campaigns on the Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Clients include LifeLock, Louisiana Tech University, Major League Soccer team the San Jose Earthquakes and YETI Coolers.

Experts in consumer behaviour, Kantar Worldplanel, have launched Worldpanel Plus – a new service that will harness people’s smartphones to offer insight into the motives behind any shopping trip, in any store, whenever and wherever. Using a custom-made smartphone app, Shoppix, Worldpanel Plus allows panellists to record their purchases and the motivations behind them in real time.

Kantar Media and TechEdge bolster innovation agenda
Leading software supplier for audience analytics, TechEdge, and Kantar Media, have announced the creation of a dedicated audience analytics software unit. The team will enhance Kantar Media’s software portfolio and cements the organisation’s audience software analytics.

With input from over 330 marketing leaders representing advertisers, agencies and media companies, the report looks at the aspirations, challenges and opportunities faced by marketers in the media and digital space.
